Transcription: Hi, and welcome to episode 18 of Self-Care for Educators. I am your host, Tina Boogren, and in this episode, we are going to explore a fun theme. Are you ready for it? It's a dance party this week! I want us to dig in and get brave and dance. Here's the deal. We know that dancing does a number of things for us.

It makes our mind sharper, our body slimmer ... It gives our spirit more umph, and even if we think that we have no rhythm, hey, guess what? We can dance with the door shut and the blinds closed, and no one has to see us. It just makes us feel better. I would kind of put this under that umbrella of play. Like, this is something we used to do with abandon, right? When we were little, and we weren't easily embarrassed, and we weren't shy, and we weren't self-conscious, and that kind of goes away for a lot of us, myself included. Here's the deal. You will not find one person who knows me that would say I'm good. Oh boy. Oh boy! But you know what? Yeah. I've come to the stage. I don't even care. I don't even care. I love to just put on my 911 playlist and dance. It feels so good. There's so many dance workouts. Some of you like actually know what you're doing. For me, it's just a total stress release. That idea of taking a break and just standing up and moving our bodies for awhile ...

Having a dance party in your kitchen ... dance party with your students ... dance party with your family, with your dog. I don't care. Just play around with stopping what you're doing and having an impromptu dance party. I have worked with different groups that have gotten together ... a group of teachers, in the morning before school starts, and have a dance party to get the day going.

I love that also on Friday afternoons, meet up and have a dance party to celebrate the wins of the week, and I know everything is wackadoo this year, but we can keep our mask on. We can keep a social distance, and we can just boogie together. I love the sound of that. So, let's see ... What else do we know?

Alright ... so good for our brain. Oh gosh. It could just helps lift our mood and our spirit and can help with anxiety. It gets those feel-good hormones going. Gives us a boost. It makes us feel better. It can make you actually sleep better. Oh, what a release it is! So, here's the deal: I want you guys ... I want you to be brave, and I want you to dance. Whether you're doing it, Zoomba, taking some other class ... If you're doing Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T and Beach Body ... I don't care what it is you do. I just want you to play around with dancing. Just give yourself permission to be goofy and explore it. I'm going to do the same thing, and I think our 911 playlist is a great place to start.

Remember that? We'll link back to that. That has just grown and grown and grown and it's over ... I don't know ... It's well over 10 hours of music, so there's gotta be some songs that we can dance to there. Okay. So that's it. It's a short one this week. I was a little long last week, so I wanted to keep it short this week. So, this week I want you to bust a move.

As always, thank you to Brooke for making this happen. Thank you to Solution Tree and Marzano Resources for this amazing job I get to do. Thank you to you, my Self-Care Squad. I am so grateful for you.

If you haven't had a chance, will you please, please subscribe and rate and review this podcast on every platform it is ... that you utilize to listen. I just want to welcome new folks to join us and help them know that they're in the right place, and that really helps you get the word out. So, I thank you. Have an amazing week. Bust a move! Oh gosh. If you're brave ... well, you send a video! Will you post a video on the Facebook group? Oh God, that would make me so happy. Okay. Here we go!
